Good Looking 5-Speed Driver: 1982 Saab 99
This 1982 Saab 99 (VIN YK1BG41S7D6001520) is offered with virtually no information, but it does look to have been very well-kept over the years, almost certainly being parked inside when not in use. Over 203k kilometers are shown on the odometer, but with regular maintenance tended to, these cars can be long lived. Even though not an EMS or Turbo model, it should still be fun to drive, and its inherent Saab quirkiness will help keep things interesting too. Find it here on eBay in Poznan, Poland with a $4,990 USD BIN.
Euro Features: 1985 BMW 735i 5-Speed
This 1985 BMW 735i is a manual gearbox equipped example featuring quite a bit of customization, including a backdated nose, Euro bumpers and lights, a bodykit, and upgraded M30B35 engine. All these things come together rather nicely, and it’s good to see the often-overlooked E23 get some well-deserved attention. Find it here on MyE28 in Tracy, California for $8,600.
BaT Auction Success Story: 240Z & An Unexpected Flight Home
The buyer of the 1973 Datsun 240Z that was purchased via BaT Auctions this past month (link) just reached out to update us on his auction experience as well as the trip home.
“My heart stopped and my jaw dropped when I submitted the winning bid. The other bidder did not submit a higher bid and I watched the last 20 seconds tick down. I had never purchased a car using an auction format before, and I am fairly confident I paid one of the higher amounts for any 240Z to date. This was a stressful moment!
I contacted David, the seller, right after the auction ended. He was enthusiastic about the car and also mentioned how much he liked the BaT auction site…including the discussion section in which he took part commenting and answering questions from potential buyers.
I flew out to Omaha from West Michigan on a Saturday evening. The plan was to pick up the car on Sunday morning and drive the car home before dinner. David was gracious and flexible, and said I could show up at his house at 7:30 on a Sunday morning. As the taxi pulled up to his house on a brilliant and sunny September morning there was the 240Z in all of it’s orange glory… looking better than I had ever expected. Once again I had a heart stopping moment except this time it was because that beautiful Z was mine… a car I have wanted since I was a teenager in the 1970’s.
11K Miles: 1986 Lotus Esprit Turbo
This 1986 Lotus Esprit Turbo is said to have had just one previous owner, the seller further claiming that it remains all original with under 11k miles on the odometer. Black with black louvers and gold snowflake wheels is a great look, and even the interior–a notorious weak spot with these cars–appears to be holding up unusually well. Find it here on Craigslist near Baltimore, Maryland for $29k. Special thanks to BaT reader Eric B. for this submission.
