Update: Exotic Cosworth Powered 1969 Lotus Elan Plus 2
11/9/2016 Update: Just under three years later, and this 1969 Lotus Elan Plus 2 is back on the market, and in the same area as before. The car is fitted with a rare and exotic 1.7 liter Cosworth BDR 16-valve twin cam four, and the seller believes that the asking price isn’t much more than what the race-bred engine would be worth on it own. The car otherwise looks quite stock, and as it was built to road spec with no aggressive suspension or engine tuning, the seller further claims its a lovely, balanced thing to drive. Restored by the previous owner, the seller claims few miles have been added since completion, and condition sounds to remain very good. Find it here on eBay in Gladstone, New Jersey with reserve not met.
Drives Like a Car: Circa 1970 Snow Trac
This Snow Trac ST4 is believed to have been made around 1970, right around the middle of a 24 year production period that ended in 1981. Designed and built in Sweden, these vehicles were designed as “personal” snowcats, smaller and easier to control than typical commercial duty machines. Roughly the size of a typical, contemporary European family car, steering was by a conventional wheel. This one’s been converted from VW air-cooled boxer to diesel power, also from Volkswagen. Find it here on eBay in Dutton, Lancashire, England with no reserve. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Truth in Advertising: Holden Badged 2014 Chevrolet SS
This 2014 Chevrolet SS has been re-badged as a Holden Commodore, which couldn’t be more appropriate considering that’s exactly what it is underneath. Much like Pontiac’s GTO and G8 (the latter based on the previous generation Commodore), these cars were engineered and even built in Australia, and like those past models, they’re also excellent performers with real world, daily driver practicality. This one’s said to have 24k miles, and though an automatic, some may view this as a plus depending on whether it will be used as a commuter, a distinct possibility for a two year-old Chevy sedan, regardless of how much power, braking and handling it may pack. Find it here on Craigslist in Galveson, Texas for $32k.
Original Paint & Sale Documents: 1936 Ford Model 68
This 1936 Ford Model 68 “slantback” is a Standard model, but more importantly was reportedly kept by the first owner’s family for 75 years and has accumulated just 61k miles. Incredibly, the car is also said to wear its original lacquer paint. Power comes from an 85 horse 221ci flathead V8, and the seller has had it up to 65 MPH. It’s still fitted with mechanical brakes, and sale includes original sales paperwork–unfortunately the Roosevelt for President plate fitted in front isn’t. Find it here on eBay in Snohomish, Washington with reserve not met.
