One-Off Car Hauler Conversion: 1941 GM Futurliner
This 1941 GM Futurliner is one of twelve rigs originally built as mobile exhibitions for the 1939 World’s Fair in New York. This is serial number five, the only to have been modified into what’s likely the coolest car transporter of all-time. There aren’t any details regarding running condition, but the truck does appear to be roadable, and features a number of enhancements for hauling duty. Find it here at Mecum in Anaheim, California where it will be auctioned between November 17-19.
1776-Powered Coral Red 21-Window: 1964 Volkswagen T2
This 1964 Volkswagen 21-window is said to have been purchased new by a German missionary who had it shipped to Africa. Later exported to the US and restored around 20 years ago, we gather it hasn’t been used much recently, the seller noting that it “sits in an immaculate garage,” further noting a recent fueling system refresh. The van has a gentle patina earned over the past few decades, still presenting nicely while avoiding the clinical, “unusable” vibe of a box-fresh resto. Its ~100 horse, twin carb 1776cc motor should move it along quite nicely, too. Find it here on Craigslist in Charleston, South Carolina for $85k OBO. Special thanks to BaT reader Chris S. for this submission.
Dual Quad 409/Powerglide & Cheater Slicks: 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air
This 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air started life as a 283/automatic equipped car, but has more recently been fitted with a ’63 409 running dual quads. Power is still transmitted through a Powerglide, but the rears are era-correct cheater slicks while fronts are correctly-sized bias-plys. The interior is said to be largely original and in very nice shape, and its colors suggest that the light blue exterior is correct. The seller says that a factory look was a high priority, and adds that the car is very streetable. Find it here on Craigslist in Sun City, Arizona for $23,500 firm.
$14K Grabber Blue SportsRoof: 1971 Ford Torino GT 351C
This 1971 Ford Torino GT (chassis 1H35H213368) is a 351 Cleveland/automatic equipped example that’s reported to have been born in Grabber Blue. The seller implies that the rebuilt 351C is correct as well, but doesn’t specifically mention originality. The car also benefits from a new OEM-style interior, as well as options like power steering and brakes. As the seller says, it looks very good inside and out, and they further claim that it drives well with lots of power. Find it here on Craigslist in Colorado Springs, Colorado for $14k.
