American Powered Adenauer: SBC-Swapped 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300
This 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300 is described by the seller as a “big, heavy, serious, German automobile without power steering. Handsome and majestic. It is a great car for shows and casual trips.” Originally brought to the US by a returning Army serviceman, it looks stock from the outside, but had an injected crate 350 SBC, automatic trans and tilt steering column fitted around 1994. The seller notes $3k in recent work, and the car sounds to be ready for driving. It won’t please the purists, but we think it makes for a very cool cruiser. Find it here on Craigslist near Torrance, California for $46k. Special thanks to BaT reader KLSL for this submission.
Lacquered Flatty: 1929 Ford Roadster
This 1929 Ford roadster is a great looking custom powered by a 239ci 59A flatty V8 wearing some cool period speed parts. Somewhat unusually, it hasn’t been channeled, helping to preserve interior space that’s already at a premium to begin with, and a modern 5-speed manual should make for good drivability, too. The seller says it runs and drives excellently, and that it’s ready to go anywhere. Find it here on Jalopy Journal in Orange, California for $38,500.
31K Miles: 1989 Volkswagen Jetta Coupe
This 1989 Volkswagen Jetta coupe (VIN WVWKB01G4KW391832) is offered as an all-original, 31k mile example that the seller claims is the best-preserved MkII they’ve seen outside of VW’s Wolfsburg museum. Condition truly does look remarkably good throughout, and apart from an excellent set of German market dealer accessory Pirelli wheels, the car remains all stock–standard rims are included as well. The writeup notes a good deal of recent maintenance, all performed with OEM parts. The same ad also lists an interesting TDI-swapped four-door MkII Jetta for sale, and proceeds from either car will go to help fund a stem cell transplant for the seller’s wife. Find them here on VW Vortex in Dixon, California. Special thanks to BaT reader Gilberto J. for this submission.
Great History: Restored 1961 Lotus 23B Racer
This Lotus 23B (chassis 23S61) is described as a 1961 model, and though this could possibly make it a very early 23, B-spec revisions like its sill-mounted shifter were not introduced until 1963. Regardless, it looks and sounds to be an excellent example, with interesting, detailed ownership history and excellent spec breakdown, too. Though now restored and fitted with a factory-correct 1600 Lotus twin cam, at one point it was run with a 1.5 liter Coventry Climax V8! Find it here on Craigslist near Minneapolis, Minnesota for $190k. Special thanks to BaT reader SM42 for this submission.
