Big Price Drop Update: Incredible 1958 Pontiac Super Chief Ambulance
12/7/2016 Update: After just a few months of sitting around unsold, the seller of this spectacularly well-preserved 1958 Pontiac Super Chief with Superior Coach ambulance bodywork has lowered its asking price dramatically. To recap, the car is said to be 100% original with under 25k miles and full functionality. Condition looks remarkably good throughout, to the point that most would likely guess that it wears a three or four-year old, very correct, very expensive restoration. Find it here on Craigslist in Langley, BC, Canada for $31,500 USD. Special thanks to BaT reader Jim O. for the heads-up.
From 8/4/2016:
This 1958 Pontiac Super Chief is a Superior Coach converted ambulance in what looks like incredibly well preserved condition, made all the more remarkable by claimed complete originality throughout. Most would swear it’s the product of an expensive, detailed restoration, and the seller further notes 25k miles and full functionality. Find it here on Craigslist in Langley, BC, Canada for $40k USD. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Mazda Rotary-Swapped: 1974 Porsche 914
This 1974 Porsche 914 has been converted to Mazda rotary power, and comes fitted with five-lug 911 hubs, brake and 15″ Fuchs wheels. Cosmetics aren’t terrible, but could stand to be sorted here and there, and the seller also notes “very little rust,” which may or may not need immediate attention depending on its location and true severity. Regardless of these issues, it could be a very fun swap if properly dialed-in. Find it here on Craigslist on Long Island, New York for $6k. Special thanks to BaT reader PGN for this submission.
Basically New: Unrestored 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Euro 4-Speed
This 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280SE is on offer by an individual who sounds to be its third owner. They recount a history of careful, loving owners, and there sounds to be a nice stack of correspondence between them–other documentation includes factory books and stamped maintenance logs. Condition looks truly extraordinary throughout, particularly as the car is claimed to be all original apart from the windshield, which was replaced more than 25 years ago. Mileage is given as just 52,500 kilometers, and the seller says that the car runs and drives like new–“crisp and taut.” Find it here on eBay in Holzminden, Germany with a 26,900 euro (~$29k USD today) BIN.
One of 265 Saloons: Partly Restored 1955 Bristol 405
This 1955 Bristol 405 is one of 265 four-door saloon models built, with the remaining 43 of the series made as drop-head coupes. The car wears quirky but ultimately quite pretty aluminum bodywork, and though its original straight-six and matching gearbox are gone, sale includes a Rover V8 and 5-speed gearbox, both of which have been rebuilt. Additionally, seats have been reupholstered to what looks like a nice standard, and the chassis is claimed to be “utterly sound.” Find it here on eBay in Wirral, Merseyside, England for 9,500 GBP (~$12k USD today) OBO. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
